The high cost of custom built fitted furniture
Hi, my name is Chris Jones and I am the co-owner, along with my wife Alex, of Indoors WA. I moved to Perth with my family 2 years ago from Manchester, England, and we love it here! Since our migration I have kept my ear to the ground and my eyes wide open and have noticed that you do things a little differently here. During my 25 years in the fitted furniture industry I have never come across a more stubborn and complicated approach to designing, manufacturing and installing any piece of fitted furniture you would care to mention, and I am sure this is reflected in the cost. I know what all you die hard cabbies are thinking right now and that is ” not that European modular crap!”, well, without the crap bit, why not? My way of thinking is if I can optimize my materials, standardize a majority, not all, of my cabinets ( and so door sizes ) I can lower my costs and in doing so lower the purchase price then what is the problem with modular?
Just think about the future, five years down the track you decide you want a new look, thankfully you went modular and can go buy new doors for your cabinets off the shelf instead of getting a cabinet maker to drop by and measure all the doors and give you a quote to custom manufacture new ones. So with that in mind we set up Indoors WA.
