What color would you paint the kitchen cabinets to go with green granite?

Brandy asked:

We have a small kitchen so we do not want to go dark, and right now our cabinets are a light wood color but their is no contrast. We just installed new slate tile floor in the kitchen so now we are stuck with ugly cabinets. HELP?

A shade lighter green than the granite for cohesiveness.

Are the cabinets actually ugly, or do you just not like that there is no contrast with the floor color? If the cabinets look good, just paint the walls a green color that matches the floors, if you don’t like the cabinets at all, paint them a light beige or cream color. You will want to seal them with a product made for painting cabinets, that way you will be able to scrub them down real good when needed.

play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the “painted” rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think a light creamy color like “a la mode” (# 7116) would look terrific.

I also would go a few shades darker in the green family. You want the granite to pop out. What color is the floor, as you could paint the walls a close shade to the floor? Painting the cabinets can be tricky, but if you think it’s needed, here are some tips on how to do it the right way. Good luck!
